Second-half goals from Adam Johnson, Mario Balotelli, Samir Nasri and Stefan Savic secured the victory and ensured Roberto Mancini's men stayed level on points with Premier League leaders Manchester United.
Aguero limped out of the action with less than half an hour gone at Ewood Park - the last thing City needed after Carlos Tevez's bust-up with Mancini and subsequent suspension by the club in midweek.
David Platt, the Citizens' first team coach, suggested the injury would sideline the ex-Atletico Madrid man for 'at least two weeks'.
'I don't think it's as bad as we first thought,' said Platt.
'Having said that if we had another game in the week he wouldn't play. We will have a good look at it over the next 48 hours.'

It sounds better news than I expected. I don't mind him joining up with Argentina but NOT to play, surely.
