John Guidetti could save Manchester City a fortune in the summer - or make them one. The 19-year-old striker is out-scoring Sergio Aguero, Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko, is being watched by Bayern Munich and has even provoked whispers of interest from Real Madrid. With Carlos Tevez surely heading for the exit door this summer – touch wood – the Blues will be in the market for a thrusting young striker. Names like Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi, both hugely impressive for Napoli this season, are already being linked to the Blues. But before they spend anything in the summer transfer window, City will bring back Guidetti from his successful season-long loan at Feyenoord and assess whether he is ready for the step up to Premier League and Champions League level. If not, they will consider giving him another year on loan, or selling him if they decide he is not what they want in the long term. “There is a future for John,” said coach David Platt. “The boy has got ability. We gave him a new contract last year because we believed he had the ability.“It was always on the cards he would go out on loan somewhere. When players go out on loan you don't know how they are going to cope with it, what is going to happen. “You have to say that has been a very successful loan for John, he is doing exceptionally well. He is creating a lot of attention because of the goals he is scoring - and not only scoring but making as well.” City have followed his progress carefully, and even considered recalling him from his loan during the January transfer window to bolster their striking resources. In the end they left him to see out the season, and sent football development officer Patrick Vieira and football administration officer Brian Marwood to check on his progress. Feyenoord are keen to take Guidetti for another season, but Roberto Mancini will want to give him the once-over in pre-season before any decisions are taken. “We were aware of his ability, and we believe the year he will have had at Feyenoord will bear him in good stead for us next year,” said Platt. “We have kept in constant contact with John. People have been out and watched, not just Brian and Patrick. “They were out there, and that is a bit high profile, but I would say City staff have seen 60 to 70 per cent of his games this season, and people have spoken to him as well.” menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/sport/football/manchester_city/s/1486711_loan-star-john-guidetti-has-future-at-manchester-city-despite-interest-from-bayern-munich

Interesting that they have seen "60 to 70 per cent of his games this season and yet have kept our presence under the radar. It shows good professionalism, something that we have not always had in the coaching environment at this club.
