What do we think is going to happen with De Jong?
It seems to me like there isn't much chance of him signing a new contract as i cannot see him being offered the terms he was previously offered, and turned down, again. It's a shame because he's looked more like the De Jong of old lately.

Love it if we kept him, but the rumours won't stop.

I'd be gutted if he left, He's definitely one of the best holding midfielders in the world even if he does have a bit of a reputation for "tough" tackling!

Ih he dfoes decide to go (or Mancini lets him go) I won't be gutted. Last season he was a great backbone for our side but, this season, playing more expansively we have looked really good and conceding only 27 goals (with one game to go) seems to indicate that we are doing ok as a defensive unit. We also have to remember that, against some of our expectations (especially mine) James Milner has really looked a class act when he has played during the mid season.

I think we need to keep De Jong as Barry starts to age. What is Barry this year... 31?
Also, how old is De Jong.. 26? (uncerctain)
I actually think De Jong is better than Barry and we should keep him for the long term!

Gossip column on the beeb says that Arsenal are looking into him! I hope this is not true.
Anyone know what De Jong's contract demands are compared to what we offered him?

The only rumour I have heard was from the ever completely reliable Sun saying that he had refused terms that were offered. I think his contract is ending at the end of next season and I am sure that, if the manager wants him, we have plenty of time to get his renewal sorted. Unless of course his family are unsettled in England.

Arsenal will switch their attentions to Manchester City’s Nigel De Jong after the move for Rennes’ Yann M’Vila went cold. The Mirror is reporting that Arsenal have grown tired of waiting for an answer from Rennes about the availability of French international M’Vila and Manchester City’s De Jong is their new target. De Jong, who will represent the Dutch at Euro 2012, has found his opportunities increasingly limited at Eastlands this past season with Gareth Barry and the more dynamic Yaya Toure preferred in the holding roles. This has alerted Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger who may be willing to offer De Jong more game time at the Emirates for the 2012/13 campaign. However, Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes – who brought De Jong to City from Hamburg – is also apparently keen on the tough tackling midfielder. With just a year remaining on his City contract, De Jong will be hoping to sort his future this summer. Link:
