On BBC Sports website are details of an interview that he has done with the BBC. The whole tone of the interview, Cook's regrets and apologies, particularly to the supporters of the Club, his praise of the administrative team and his modesty in not trying to take too much of the credit for himself, leads me to wonder (and, in my case) HOPE that this may be the first step in getting him back on board.
I, for one, would love to see him back. His presence gives me the comfort factor that one has when the Captain of an Ocean Liner recovers from illness and takes command of the vessel again. He gives it purpose, direction and drive. I will dream and hope - I'd love him back.
As a second best. I'd like to see our temporary appontee, John McBeath, replaced (great job that he has done is recognised) and we have a strong, charismatic, public figure to head our Club.

In an ideal world I'd like to see cook back despite his several gaffes along the way i have a lot respect what he has done for the club in raising the world-wide profile and his work behind the scenes and laying down the foundations for all the knew financial and advertising partners we've gained in the last 3-4 years. However i just feel like he'd be too much under the microscope with everyone waiting for the first minor slip up he'd have the cross-hairs on his head for the rest of his time at the club.
I think the very thing that got him in the heap of shit in the first place is the thing we need to consider in the future. I think the roles of CEO and global branding/marketing chief should be two separate roles. I mean it was clear Cook was great at what he did but to fulfill the roles of CEO you've got to be well spoken, very quick on your toes and very political in every interview. If i was picking the next CEO I'd have had Burnstien back in a flash, however thats never going to happen now he's on top $$$ at the FA. My close second would be to bring in David Dean with a global branding/merchandising strategist to work beneath/alongside him.

It's a shame that what happened meant the media got hold of the story. I think Gary has done well to save face and hopefully further down the line, we can have him back. I've not read much on Tom Glick, but I am not sure exactly what he has done at Derby, but it will be interesting to see what the Yank can do!
