Santa Cruz didn't sign for Real Betis because they couldn't afford the transfer fee, Adebayor didn't sign because after finally stumping up the agreed £8 million transfer fee after paying £4 million and 60% of his wages to loan him for a year that they refused to pay Adebayor the huge signing on fee he was looking for to compensate him for the drop in earnings.
We are facing the very real prospect of having both of these players, who earn close to a combined 220k a week, still at the club at the close of the window. I can appreciate that the owners paid a premium for these players but maybe it is just time to get them out and done with. I can see why they want a decent fee for Adebayor, he certainly is still a very good striker, as he proved at Madrid and Spurs last season and in reality there would be plenty of suitors for Adebayor if his wages weren't so high but they are and no body is going to want him on that kind of money as well as having to shell out £6-10 million in transfer fee. And if anyone saw RSC against either Oldham or Limerick they wouldn't touch him with a barge pole!
In reality it's these players wages that are holding us back in the market and not the need to wait for the income of any potential transfer fee we may get. I just can't understand why we are driving any form of hard bargain for these players, get rid and move on.

A sentiment that I think most of us agree with. My only discomfort is that both these guys are just taking the piss out of us; alternately, what would we, personally, do if we had the chance of sitting on our bums and getting paid magic money for it? And these football players claim they play 'for the love of the game'......... Love of the game, my arse ( as Jim Royle would so succinctly put it).

it's very frustrating but at the end of the day this is what you get when you go from mid table mediocrity to champions in 3 years. there's going to be poor signings and a few hangers on. what's most annoying is that these players seem happy to cripple their football careers for a few extra bob... is there really a lot you can buy with £150k/wk that you can't buy for £60k/wk? i wonder what their 12 year old selves would think of them...
