Is this for real ? I know Mark Clattenburg has a bad reputation, but would he do something as stupid as this - especially after the Terry, Suarez affairs ? Chelsea Make Formal Complaint Against Mark Clattenburg Chelsea have formally complained to the Football Association over alleged 'inappropriate language' aimed at John Mikel Obi by referee Mark Clattenburg. The Blues allege the referee used an offensive racial term in their 3-2 defeat by Manchester United on Sunday. The club added there was insufficient evidence to suggest Juan Mata had also been verbally abused by the official. Clattenburg maintains his innocence and neither of his assistants or the fourth official support Chelsea's allegations. Read More:

It seems that even Chelsea have conceded that it was Mikel misunderstanding the broad Geordie accent of Clattenberg. Of more concern to me is the fact that, YET AGAIN, no assistance appeared to be given to the Referee by any of the other match ofifcials.
It seems that since ''linesmen' has their title changed to 'assistant referees', their authority to make ANY decision has been neglected in one way or another.
In tthe last few years I think that Sian Massey has been our best 'assistant' by a long, long way but we do not appear to hear anything about her any more. I hope it is NOT because that 'Match Official Game Management' bunch of opportunists have decided that they do not want to see someone who is good at controlling a game in a neutral manner but prefer to see their 'golden boys' being the star of every show, irrespective of their accuracy of decision making.

No games next weekend for Clattenburg - why can't these things get sorted out instead of dragging on and on ?

Mark Clattenburg: Police Drop Investigation Into Referee The Metropolitan Police has dropped an investigation into alleged comments by referee Mark Clattenburg towards Chelsea's John Obi Mikel and Juan Mata. Police said there was no evidence an offence was committed during Manchester United's 3-2 win over Chelsea. The Football Association launched its own investigation that will continue and Chelsea made an official complaint to the FA that solely concerned Mikel. Clattenburg has always denied the allegation he used racial words. Chelsea's complaint came after the police had already begun its investigation and followed a thorough investigation, which they claimed was led by outside legal counsel and used information from interviews with club players and staff. Police said in a statement on Tuesday: "Inquiries were made and no victims have come forward. The matter will remain as a recorded incident. "Without a victim and/or any evidence that any offence has been committed, the matter cannot currently be investigated. "If the situation changes and a victim and/or evidence to support an allegation of a crime comes to police attention, then further inquiries will, if appropriate, be made." Earlier on Tuesday, Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck insisted the club are not hypocrites for supporting skipper John Terry while lodging a complaint against Clattenburg. Buck said Chelsea have a "duty of care" towards Terry even though he was banned for four matches for racially abusing QPR's Anton Ferdinand. More...........

When Clatterbug is cleared and all is back to normal, I think the Chaves should be very worried as human nature dictates that they may no longer get the benefit of the doubt from referees in marginal decisions.

No, No and No. I'm afraid.
Just like Fergarsole has got away with some shocking and libelistic stuff over the years.
How on earth the FA allowed that Keane Pikey to get away with writing in his Official Book that he deliberately went out to hurt our Alfie and had no regrets with all that happened show just what a toothless bunch of dodderers they are. Not at all interested in keeping football honourable and honest, but appearing to be more interested in their cozy little 'gentlemen's club'.
Just one big joke of an outfit (it cannot deserve to be called an Organisation or Association as those nouns describe something with implied honesty and integrity. Surely not the first attributes that come to mind when the 'F.A' is mentioned).
