I have a mate who, since we moved into the City of Manchester Stadium, has been going on and on that he thought we were being bloody stupid to let away fans have such a prominent part of the ground. I believe it was "eaststand" who explained that the area given to them was because of the fan segregation problems going up and down the spirals. It now seems that we are going to reserve one of the spirals for away fans going all the way up to the third tier and we will have OUR fans packed behind both goals. GREAT - I just hope we carry this on into the Prem for next season - make the Etihad a place where the visiting bad experience starts when they emerge from the tunnel and continues through the game.

Definitely agree. The rags and arsenal do it, why not us too? I don't know what has changed but i emailed the supporters club last year when they had their annual meeting with the club asking about away fan re-location and he replied saying for years the club have been told no by GMP. Hopefully this is a change in heart?

think they're just trialing it in the champions league this year to hopefully bring it in to the premier league next season, if the police look convinced. it'd definitely help the atmosphere, but i don't like the way the club is referring to the normal away fans section as a "singing section" in the trials... the whole ground should be a singing section!

Unfortunately it is. It's very rare a chant starts from the eaststand (or kippax), it's a real shame. Where i sit it's filled with alot of people who just want to sit and watch the game, analysing as if on TV. (which makes it blatantly obvious when i go mad at the referee and look a right muppet!). The are some people who clearly want to give it the big one, they are just too spread out and not pissed enough!

It'll come - the club are trying to get it going and with guys like you there, eaststand, you'll get one disciple, followed by another etc etc - you (and we) will get there.

something that absolutely HAS to happen is that we decrease the number of 99 quid season tickets. The family stand probably has the largest number of no-shows per game and it does effect the atmosphere. The renewal of the tickets should be dependant on the amount of times the card goes through the turn-style. I can understand the logic in having these cheap tickets - if one father passes on his match-going loyalty two to of his sons then that may be 2 loyal seasconcard holders in the years to come. But my idea is that their renewal price should be base on the percentage of games that card attends. If the card goes through the turnstyles 100% of the 19 home games then the renewal price is frozen. If for E.g. it goes through 97% then they experience a 3% rise in renewal price and so on. That way it encourages the families (and theres alot more than you think) that look at the weather and go 'i don't fancy dragging the kids in that' or 'it's on tv, it would be easier to just stay at home' because it's the same clusters of seats every time - it not only looks bad on TV but it also detracts from those foreign fans that help the scum fill the swamp to such volumes and unfortunately if we want to extend the stadium we are going to have to start attracting those types to games.
