It's all over facebook and bluemoon - Fuck it!
It wasn't the result we wanted. It wasn't a result we'd have taken. But we are CITY and some things never change - we will do things the hard way!
This has been a learning curve - that we need to stick to our footballing principles and take our Prem selections into the CL and ignore this bullshit pundits tell us about the CL being so different. Yes there is greater quality but there is NO WAY & NO WHERE it says to change a winning formula.
We lost this game (without wanting to make me seem like a bellend for pointing out that i'd said it before a ball was kicked in the CL) because the wrong full backs where picked in the game and that the performances of the full backs would dictate the results in the Bayern and Napoli games. It didn't quite work out that way in the Bayern game but it most certainly did in the Napoli games as two very poor performances whilst in possession and/or when facing goal by kolarov (although he took up some good, albeit unused, positions in the oppositions final third) and zaba have cost us dearly. In Mancini we trust but i think maybe he got that call wrong. In terms of his subs i think he was spot on.
The only thing that stings for me is - platt told jeff at half time exactly what the players had been told ('more of the same and don't lose/get caught in possession in the centre of the pitch because they will break with pace') and that within 4 minutes de jong was playing a hollywood ball in the centre of the pitch which lead to their counter.
CTID!!!
