Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong has flown to Italy for talks with AC Milan over a permanent deal. The Holland international has slipped down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium and looks set to try his luck in Serie A. Preliminary discussions are believed to have been underway for several days and the official Milan TV channel announced on Thursday: "De Jong is on his way to Milan. The medical will be performed tomorrow."  |

yea i just saw it on their website. he was a good player for us but i don't think mancini was ever particularly fond of him.
i guess this is why we bought rodwell.

Obviously the previous comments were Pre Javi Garcia - now THAT is what I call a bloody good buy. And at ONLY 16 Million - great business, as I think we'll all see very quickly (just a pity he didn't see early enough to make today).
Definitely a step up fron De Jong (much as I loved him and didn't want to lose him) and compared to Scholes, Giggs, Kagara, Fletcher, Carrick etc a full bloody Everest above the lot of 'em combined !

Sad to lose one of the great characters from the dressing room. I think we'll miss him more for that than on the pitch but of all those that have now left (other than the loanees), he's the only one I wish well for the future.

I have loads and loads of respect and admiration for Nigel de Jong and wish him every success and, more importantly, happiness in his life in Italy.
The more I think about it though, the more excited I am becoming about Javi G.
Cliche though it may be.....................'The King is Dead; Long Live the King'.
I also feel that de Jong himself wanted to move on, there were stories before last Christmas that de Jong was stalling on signing an extended contract. Maybe his wife and family weren't too happy in Manchester, who knows?
