... IF the window closes and we're left with the squad as it is, he has got to stop bemoaning a lack of activity and indicating that we're no longer good enough to the media, mind games or not. I love his no player can ever not get better, no player can ever not improve further attitude as it keeps our genuine world class players on their toes. However I sincerely hope that in house he is far more appreciative of the players as i do not believe this attitude is something that is going to bring the best out of players that are perhaps not quite there and are on the fringes of the team.
If we end up with no more signings i want him to focus on what we do have, to start to look to that youth team to plug the gaps, much like he did when he first came in. 5 minutes here and a start there can be the difference to a few of those players realising their potential or just coasting through playing 80-odd reserve games and never actually improving. There would be no harm in involving the likes of Rekik, Suarez and Razak more often.

I agree completely - as I've said on here before, I can't believe that these things (transfers etc) were not fully discussed before Bobby Manc signed his new 5 year contract. I only hope that 'backstage' he has told the players of the 'public face' and that the reality is different. Like you say, though, Razak and Suarez should be uised where possible and we also have Ryan McGivern back with us now and a couple more who could (should, even?) be given more encouragement

hoping it's all mind games here. not a great way to praise/motivate a title winning squad by telling them they're not good enough. i'd probably get just get pissed off if i was one of the players and my boss kept going on like this. in fairness, i'd have liked to have seen a little more activity as well but let's not forget how good our core of players is (hart, kompany, yaya, silva, aguero... does it get much better than that?).

Being pragmatic, I feel that we do not necessarily need that many (or pricy) new players.
Tevez has come back in excelent physical condition, appears to be happy and focussed on playing for City. We have had no comments being leaked from Kia the Gobbychubbyun, and he appears like a new player from what I've seen so far.
Kun Aguero is just starting his second season in the Prem and can be expected to be even better than he was last year.
Samir Nasri showed at the end of last season that he is becoming more and more influential.
Dzeko and Balotelli ( barring any last minute developments) will now surely be aware that they both have to focus more closer on their games and MUST start to realise their potential or become surplus in January, possibly leading to Guidetti being given a full chance with the first team for the final 5 months of the season.
Rodwell will be around for when Yaya goes to the ANC again in January
Our dedicated defensive coach should improve matters at the back
Balotelli, after a somewhat underwhelming performance at Loserpool MUST begin to focus and quickly
Pantilimon is showing (after watching the performance on Sunday) that he could soon be replacing Joe Hart unless he perks up
Our youngsters who have already been mentioned earlier in this thread and can also be included more often and will, no doubt, develop nicely I feel.
